Year 3

It’s been such an eventful term 3 for Year 3s. Students got a chance to enrich their learning by taking part in different hands-on activities. Following are the views of some of the Year 3 students about last fortnight.

We are learning about information reports this term. Last week, the whole class researched about ‘Frogs’. On Tuesday, we went to the ICT lab to get the information. Then we did the final copy of our report. We everyone finished, we started colouring the frog in and this was our wall display for literacy board.

On Friday, 24th August 2018, we had pirate dress-up day. Most students and teachers dressed up. We watched ‘Matilda’ which is a movie based on a novel. In the class our teacher Mrs Singh read a book called “Florette” and we also did an art activity in which we had to create our own garden because that was what the book was about. We had so much fun!!!

From 13th August -17th August, we celebrated Science Week. On Friday, 17th August, our class was split up into four groups and we had to go to four different stations, where we did some science experiments. We also had ‘Mad Scientist ‘dress-up competition and Hamza Sheriff from our class was the winner.

We did ‘Fraction Art’ to conclude our unit on fractions. We used different coloured paper and we cut out circles of different sizes. Then we cut them out into various fractions, glued them to make a symmetrical art pattern. It was so much fun!!!

On Tuesday, 28th August, the whole school dressed up in yellow to celebrate the Daffodil Day. We had to bring a gold coin for donation which is forwarded to the Cancer Council. At lunch, we got to buy some stationery from the Daffodil Day stall set up outside the staffroom. I bought two pens.
